Physical security solutions provider ADT has detected unauthorized access to its network for the second time in recent months, and again some data has been stolen by the attackers.

ADT, which offers alarm and other physical security systems for homes and small businesses, informed the SEC on Monday that it recently detected a cybersecurity breach.

According to the company, hackers gained access to its systems using compromised credentials obtained through a business partner, which has been notified about the incident.

An investigation has shown that the threat actor exfiltrated encrypted internal ADT data associated with employee user accounts.

“Based on its investigation to date, the Company does not believe customers’ personal information has been exfiltrated, or that customers’ security systems have been compromised,” ADT said.

“ADT’s containment measures have resulted in some disruptions to the Company’s information systems, and the Company’s investigation is at an early stage and ongoing,” it added.

No other information has been provided on the incident and no known ransomware group appears to have taken credit for the attack at the time of writing.

This is the second data breach disclosed by ADT in recent months. In August, the company confirmed that hackers had stolen customer information from its systems after a threat actor claimed to have obtained over 30,000 ADT customer records.
