NetApp has joined the Vultr Cloud Alliance, a collaboration of technology providers focused on delivering adaptable AI cloud services.
The alliance leverages each member’s unique strengths to address the growing demand for scalable and composable infrastructure for cloud and AI workloads.
The integration of NetApp’s ONTAP platform with Vultr’s global network of data centres provides organisations with access to enterprise-grade data management features alongside Vultr’s infrastructure. The combination is designed to support data-intensive sectors such as financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, and media by optimising workflows for AI model training, high-performance computing, and research.
By advocating for a customisable approach to cloud infrastructure, the Vultr Cloud Alliance lets organisations scale and integrate AI and cloud operations without vendor lock-in. Members of the alliance include AMD, SQream, Qdrant, Console Connect, and Run:ai, each of which offers discreet abilities to address different business needs.
The partnership comes when enterprises are facing complex challenges in AI adoption, such as data management, security, and compliance requirements. The New Battleground: Unlocking the Power of AI Maturity with Multi-Model AI, a recent Vultr-commissioned report by S&P Global Market Intelligence, states that cost-effectiveness (29.0%), flexible pricing (24.8%), and security and compliance (35.3%) are important factors when choosing a cloud platform for AI deployment.
Key features of the collaboration include:
- Data protection and compliance: NetApp ONTAP offers built-in encryption, compliance tools, and automated backup capabilities.
- Cost-effective scalability: Vultr’s infrastructure, paired with NetApp’s storage solutions, reduce reliance on on-premises resources.
- Hybrid multicloud flexibility: The partnership supports hybrid and multicloud environments, allowing organisations to avoid vendor lock-in and customise deployments.
Supporting diverse use cases across sectors is the goal of these features. For example, financial services firms can automate tasks like document review and contract generation. Healthcare providers can streamline clinical report generation and transcription. Retail companies can optimise their delivery, inventory, and forecast workflows.
“This collaboration helps make AI-driven innovation possible for enterprises with the most demanding security, compliance and performance requirements,” said J.J. Kardwell, CEO of Vultr. “By integrating NetApp’s industry-leading data management capabilities with Vultr’s high-performance global cloud infrastructure, we are enabling enterprises to harness the power of AI while maintaining control over their data assets.”
The partnership provides several benefits, such as:
- Simplified hybrid cloud storage and data management through NetApp ONTAP across Vultr’s 32 global locations.
- AI and machine learning support with Vultr’s Cloud GPU offerings and NetApp storage.
- Automated data tiering to improve cost efficiency.
- Rapid data migration and synchronisation.
- Compliance tools for regulated industries.
Riccardo Di Blasio, Senior Vice President of North America Sales at NetApp, highlighted the collaboration’s role in bridging AI capabilities with data infrastructure. “This partnership empowers organisations to accelerate digital transformation initiatives while maintaining control over their data across hybrid cloud environments,” he said.
By addressing organisations’ needs for security, scalability, and flexibility, the partnership aims to spur innovation across industries and improve users’ ability to use AI and high-performance computing.
