Identity and privilege management provider CloudKnox Security has announced the appointment of Raj Mallempati as Chief Operating Officer.

CloudKnox Security, an early stage venture, offers a cloud security platform which focuses on managing identity privileges in public and private cloud environments, including hybrid and multi-cloud. It takes an activity rather than role-based approach, centred around simplifying the assignation of distinct privileges based on which ones are truly needed, and reconciling those privileges across hybrid environments.

Founded less than five years ago, it’s already raised disclosed funding of $10.8 million, with investors including ClearSky, Foundation Capital, and Dell Technologies Capital.

It’s also achieved a number of industry accolades, including being selected as a Top 10 finalist for the RSA 2019 Innovation Sandbox contest, and taking bronze in this year’s Hybrid Cloud Security category at the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards. According to its profile on the latter’s website, it had (as of a few months ago), nearly two dozen customers, including names such as AutoDesk, Cisco, and Synack.

“There is still a lot of confusion when it comes to the infrastructure challenges around identity privilege management and authorization, especially regarding hybrid cloud, which is something we aim to change,” said Balaji Parimi, founder and CEO of CloudKnox Security.

“We’re thrilled to have Raj join us in this effort, given his impressive track record of helping companies accelerate their GTM. He brings a unique perspective and skill set to the CloudKnox leadership team and I look forward to working along side him.”

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mallempati joined the company in March following a two year stint as Senior Vice President of Marketing at Malwarebytes. Previous roles include VP of Global Marketing at MobileIron, VP of Product Marketing at Riverbed Technology, and Director of Marketing and Business Strategy at VMware, among other roles.

“There is a massive amount of growth taking place in the cloud infrastructure security space overall, but I was drawn to CloudKnox specifically because it’s clear the company is taking a truly unique approach to proactively addressing the threat of over-privileged identities and it’s working,” said Mallempati.

“I am very excited with CloudKnox’s enterprise grade security platform, very robust product roadmap and great customers. This has been validated by the phenomenal quarter CloudKnox recently had where they closed several six figure deals and saw a significant increase in their pipeline. I am incredibly excited to help lead CloudKnox to its next phase of innovation tied with operational excellence. I look forward to the impact we’ll continue to achieve together.”
